Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira begins to release house rental statistics at local level
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira begins today to release house rental statistics at local level based in information gathered and compiled by Statistics Portugal (INE). Two indicators with annual periodicity are now made available for the Autonomous Region of Madeira and for some of its municipalities:
Main results:
In the year 2017, the median house rental value of the 1,091 new lease agreements of dwellings registered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 5.15€/m2, above national value (4.39€/m2). The Autonomous Region of Madeira was the second Region among the seven Portuguese NUTS2 regions, behind Área Metropolitana de Lisboa (6.06 €/m2) and ahead of Algarve (5.00€/m2), which ranked third.
Given the minimum number of 30 transactions, information is only available for the municipalities of Funchal, Câmara de Lobos, Santa Cruz and Machico. In the year of reference, Funchal had a share of 68.7% of new lease agreements (750), while, of that group, Machico was the municipality with the lowest number of lease agreements (37).
Looking at the median house rental value by municipality, Funchal (5.85€/m2) was the only municipality which stood above the value of the Region (5.15€/m2), followed by Santa Cruz (4.46€/m2), Câmara de Lobos (3.81€/m2) and Machico (3.68€/m2).
