Building permits and completed buildings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira decreased compared to the same period in the previous year

During the period from January to September 2024, 390 buildings were granted licenses, reflecting a decrease of 0.5% compared to the same period in 2023 (392).

Of the licensed construction and demolition projects, 76.4% were attributed to new buildings (298), with 81.5% of them intended for residential purposes (243). These projects resulted in the licensing of 758 new dwellings, representing a decrease of 21.5% compared to the first nine months of 2023 (965).

Regarding completed buildings, between January and September 2024, there was a 17.5% decrease compared to the corresponding period, totalling 297 buildings. Of these, 67.7% were related to new dwellings for residential housing (201). As for completed dwellings in new constructions for residential housing (502), the results indicate an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period in 2023 (485).
