Main fuels released for consumption increased by 2.6% year-on-year

In the third quarter of 2016, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totaled 35.9 million litres, increasing by 2.6% compared to the same period of 2015. 24.8 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 2.8% over the same half of the previous year. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline rose by 0.6% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 9.8%. The sales of these fuels were 9.0 and 2.1 million litres, respectively.

Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 3.1 (+2.8% than in the same period of the previous year) and 1.7 thousand tonnes (+2.9%), respectively. 5.5 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, down by 15.5% when compared with the same period of 2015.

Taking in consideration the January to September period, the data reveal that the volume of the main fuels released for consumption stood at 103.4 million litres, increasing by 3.4% compared to the same period of 2015. The volume of diesel oil released for consumption went up by 3.6% while unleaded 95 gasoline and unleaded 98 gasoline rose by 1.5% and 9.5% year-on-year, respectively.

Mean prices were lower than in the same quarter of 2015 but higher than in the previous quarter

In the 3^rd quarter of 2016, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.123, lower than the price registered in the corresponding quarter of 2015 (€1.151). Compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel showed an increase of 1.9 cents.

The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.389, down by 14.7 cents compared to the 3^rd quarter of 2015 and 1.0 cents higher than in the previous quarter.
