Main fuels released for consumption increased by 3.9% over the previous year
In 2017, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at 143.0 million litres, increasing by 3.9% compared to 2016. 101.0 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 4.9% over the previous year. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 0.4% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 10.0%. The sales of these fuels were 33.7 and 8.4 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane in 2017 stood at 12.5 (down by 5.5% over the previous year) and 6.2 thousand tonnes (+8.0%), respectively. 21.7 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, a 7.5% increase when compared with 2016.
Taking in consideration the fourth quarter of 2017, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totaled 35.4 million litres, increasing by 3.1% compared to the same period of 2016. 25.0 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption between October and December 2017, up by 3.6% over the year-ago period. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 1.1%, while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 15.2%. The sales of these fuels were 8.2 and 2.2 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 1.7 and 0.9 thousand tonnes, respectively. 7.1 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the fourth quarter of 2017.
Mean prices in 2017 increased
In 2017, the mean maximum selling prices of diesel oil stood at €1.184, up by 8.7 cents the 2016 mean. In the case of the unleaded 95 gasoline, the increase between 2016 and 2017 reached 7.7 cents. The mean price for this year was €1.449.
In the 4th quarter of 2017, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.197, higher than price registered in the corresponding quarter of 2016 (€1.147). If compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows an increase of 5.6 cents.
The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.461, up by 6.4 cents compared to the 4th quarter of 2016 and also 2.8 cents higher than in the previous quarter.
