Main fuels released for consumption increased by 3.1% over the previous year
In 2019, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at 149.7 million litres, increasing by 3.1% compared to 2018. 107.1 million litres of the main fuel - diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 3.2% over the previous year. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline increases by 1.3% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 8.5%. The sales of these fuels were 32.8 and 9.7 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane in 2019 stood at 22.1 (+45.4% over the previous year) and 5.5 thousand tonnes (down by 4.0%), respectively. 24.3 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference year, a 14.2% increase when compared with 2018.
Taking in consideration the fourth quarter of 2019, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 37.3 million litres, increasing by 1.6% compared to the same period of 2018. 26.8 million litres of the main fuel - diesel oil - were released for consumption between October and December 2019, up by 1.7% over the year-ago period. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 1.2%, while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 11.3%. The sales of these fuels were 8.1 and 2.5 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 4.1 and 0.9 thousand tonnes, respectively. 7.2 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Mean prices in 2019 decreased
In 2019, the mean maximum selling prices of diesel oil stood at €1.266, decreasing by 0.8 cents over the 2018 mean. In the case of the unleaded 95 gasoline, the drop between 2018 and 2019 reached 3.2 cents. The mean price for the reference year was €1.474.
In the 4th quarter of 2019, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.268, lower than price registered in the corresponding quarter of 2018 (€1.321). If compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows an increase of 2.0 cents.
The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.481, down by 3.3 cents compared to the 4th quarter of 2018 and down by 0.9 cents from the previous quarter.
