In the first nine months of 2022
Main fuels released for consumption increased by 9.7% year-on-year
According to data provided by Alfândega do Funchal, in the first nine months of 2022, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 114.3 million litres, increasing by 9.7% compared to the same period of 2021.
In the first nine months of 2022, 81.0 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil – were released for consumption, growing by 7.2% over the same period of the previous year. Regarding gasoline, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline increased by 24.3% while the demand for unleaded 98 decreased by 6.8% year-on-year. Between January and September 2022, the sales of these fuels were 26.6 and 6.6 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 8.6 and 4.1 thousand tonnes, respectively. Regarding natural gas, 20.9 thousand tonnes were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 4.2% year-on-year.
Taking into consideration the 3rd quarter of 2022, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 40.3 million litres, decreasing by 1.1% compared to the same period of 2021.
In this quarter, 27.8 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil – were released for consumption, decreasing by 4.9% over the year-ago period. Regarding gasoline, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline went up by 13.2%, while the demand for unleaded 98 decreased by 8.1%. The sales of these fuels were 10.0 and 2.4 million litres, respectively, for the months of July to September 2022.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 1.7 and 1.5 thousand tonnes, respectively, while 5.2 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the 3rd quarter of 2022, up by 31.5% over the year-ago quarter.
Average price of diesel in the 3rd quarter of 2022 decreased compared with the previous quarter
In the 3rd quarter of 2022, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.747, a higher price than the one registered in the corresponding quarter of 2021 (€1.1420), but lower than in the previous quarter (€1.772).
The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.811, above that recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year (€1.645) and below that of the second quarter of 2022 (€1.915).
