Main fuels released for consumption increased by 1.4% compared to the same period last year
According to data provided by the Customs of Funchal, in the first three months of 2025, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira amounted to approximately 39.1 million litres, a value higher than that of the same quarter of the previous year by 1.4% (38.6 million litres in the first quarter of 2024).
Between January and March 2025, 25.7 million litres of diesel were released for consumption, reflecting a decrease of 1.0% compared to the same period last year. Regarding gasoline, the sales of 95-octane and 98-octane gasoline were approximately 10.5 million and 2.9 million litres, respectively. These figures correspond to year-on-year changes of +5.4% and +9.4%.
As for propane and butane gas, the release for consumption in the reference period was approximately 4.2 and 0.9 thousand tonnes, respectively, while, in natural gas, the volume was 6.3 thousand tonnes.
Average fuel prices increased in the first quarter of 2025
In the first three months of 2025, the average maximum price for retail sales of diesel oil was 1.403 euros, higher than that recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year (1.369 euros) and the last quarter (1.283 euros). As for 95-octane gasoline, the average price was 1.589 euros, also exceeding the figure observed in the corresponding quarter of the previous year (1.584 euros), and the fourth quarter of 2024 (1.535 euros).
