First notification – March 2020
Excessive Deficit Procedure
According to EU regulations, Statistics Portugal will send to Eurostat, until the end of the current month, the first notification of 2020 of the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP).
The estimate of Net lending of the Regional Government of Madeira (RGM) for 2019 stands at 38.0 million euro and the amount of the Regional Gross Debt at 4,662.8 million euro. It is the seventh consecutive year in which the RGM records a surplus in its Public Accounts.
The net borrowing of the General Government (GG) in 2019 amounted to € 403.9 million, corresponding to 0.2% of the Portuguese Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Gross debt of the GG stood at 250.0 billion Euro, representing 117.7% of the GDP.
