In April 2026
Confidence indicator in Manufacturing and Services increased, whilst in Construction and Public Works and in Trade there was a decrease
According to information collected by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) through the Qualitative Business Surveys (IQC), in April 2026, the confidence indicator in the Manufacturing and Services activity sectors increased compared to the previous month, whilst in Construction and Public Works and in Trade there was a decrease.
The confidence indicator for Manufacturing increased in April, after decreasing in March. The change in the indicator was due to the positive contribution of all components: assessments relating to product stocks, production expectations and opinions on the evolution of overall demand. The balance of expectations regarding selling prices decreased over the last four months, after having increased in December.
In Construction and Public Works, the confidence indicator decreased in April, after having increased in March. The change in the last month reflected the negative contribution of both components: assessments of the order book and employment expectations. The balance of expectations regarding prices charged by the enterprises over the next three months increased in March and April, after having decreased in February.
The confidence indicator for Trade decreased for three consecutive months, after having increased in January. The change in the indicator in April resulted from the negative contribution of assessments of the enterprise's activity expectations and sales volume, whilst stock volume contributed positively. The balance of future price change expectations increased in March and April, after having decreased in February.
In Services, the indicator increased over the last four months, after having decreased throughout the 2nd half of 2025. The change in the indicator resulted from the positive contribution of opinions on the past evolution of the order book, expectations regarding the future evolution of demand and assessments of enterprise´s activity. The balance of expectations regarding the future evolution of demand increased between December and April, after having decreased in November.
