Weighted Average Daily Traffic on Via Rápida increased by 4.7% when compared to the same semester of the preceding year

According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), in the 1st semester of 2024, road traffic counts increased by 5.1% on the Via Rápida and by 9.1% on the Vias Expresso, year-on-year. On the roads under concession, light vehicle traffic increased on both (+5.3% on the Via Rápida; +9.3% on the Vias Expresso), while for heavy vehicle traffic, the change was negative on the Via Rápida (-0.8%) but positive on the Vias Expresso (+1.2%).

Narrowing the scope of analysis to the 2nd quarter of 2024, the year-on-year changes in road traffic counts were +7.0% on the Via Rápida and +11.4% on the Vias Expresso.

In the first semester of 2024, the Weighted Average Daily Traffic was nearly 36.6 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and 7.0 thousand vehicles on the Vias Expresso, representing increases of 4.7% and 9.3%, respectively. As with the counts, it was the growth in light vehicle traffic (+4.8% on the Via Rápida; +9.4% on the Vias Expresso) that determined the overall change, as the small proportion of heavy vehicle traffic (respectively, 2.3% and 2.1% of the total) had little impact on the overall indicator (-0.9% on the Via Rápida; +4.1% on the Vias Expresso).

It should be noted that in the 2nd quarter of 2024, the Weighted Average Daily Traffic increased by 7.0% on the Via Rápida and 12.3% on the Vias Expresso.
