In the first half of 2026
Weighted annual average daily traffic on the Via Rápida increased 2.2% compared with the same half-year of the previous year
According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), in the first half of 2026, an average of 39.6 thousand vehicles per day were recorded on the Via Rápida and 7.7 thousand on the Vias Expresso, representing year-on-year increases of 2.2% and 3.0%, respectively.
On the concession roads, it was the change in light vehicle traffic (+2.2% on the Via Rápida; +3.0% on the Vias Expresso) that determined the overall change, as the limited share of heavy vehicle traffic (2.3% and 2.1% of the total, respectively) had little effect on the trend of the indicator as a whole, changing, year-on-year, +2.7% on the Via Rápida and +3.9% on the Vias Expresso.
In the first half of 2026, the road traffic count increased 2.2% on the Via Rápida and 3.8% on the Vias Expresso, compared with the same period of 2025. As with the weighted average traffic, the light vehicle traffic count recorded an increase on both concessioned roads (+2.2% on the Via Rápida; +3.8% on the Vias Expresso). The heavy vehicle traffic count also showed year-on-year increases, of 2.6% on the Via Rápida and 4.6% on the Vias Expresso.
Narrowing the scope of the analysis to the second quarter of 2026, the weighted average traffic grew 1.7% on the Via Rápida and 2.6% on the Vias Expresso, showing a slowdown compared with the previous quarter (year-on-year changes of 2.7% and 3.5% in the first quarter of 2026).

Note: the weighted annual average daily traffic corresponds to the number of vehicles that, on average, travel the full length of each road every day.
