Number of sessions, spectators and revenue decreased in the cinemas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira year-on-year
According to provisional data made available by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), in the second quarter of 2024, there were 3,334 sessions in the cinemas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), representing a decrease of 7.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of spectators stood at 38,275, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 37.7%, while box office revenues were approximately 219,800 euros, a decline of 34.5% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Data for the first half of 2024 indicate that cinemas in the ARM hosted 6,729 sessions, with 80,529 spectators, and generated revenues of 469,911 euros. These figures represent decreases of 1.9%, 17.7%, and 14.2%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2023.
