Between January and September 2024
Sessions, spectators and revenue in the cinemas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira decreased
According to provisional data provided by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), between January and September 2024, there were 10,786 cinema sessions in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), representing a decrease of 0.1% compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of spectators totalled 157,360, marking a year-on-year decline of 10.9%, while ticket revenue amounted to approximately 930 thousand euros, decreasing by 6.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Narrowing the scope of analysis to the third quarter of 2024, it is observed that the number of sessions and revenue increased by 2.9% and 3.9%, respectively, compared to the corresponding period, although the number of spectators fell by 2.4%.
