The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today on its website two publications - one for December 2017 and the other for the year 2017 - with data concerning the Consumer Prices Index

In December 2017, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was 1.3%, 0.2 percentage points (p.p.) higher than in the previous month.

The upward pressure on the annual average rate of change occurred in the classes of  “Transport” (+2.9%) and “Communications" (+2.4%). On the opposite side, "Clothing and footwear" (-2.8%) and “Accessories, Household Equipment and Current Household Maintenance” (-1.6%) were the only negative changes.

In Portugal, the value of that rate was 1.4%, 0.1 p.p. higher than in the previous month.

In December 2017, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region increased by 0.2% over the previous month.
