Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in Madeira was 1.4%

In January 2018, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was 1.4%, 0.1 percentage points (p.p.) higher than previous month.

The upward pressure on the annual average rate of change occurred in the classes of  “Transport" (+3.2%) and "Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels" (+2.3%). On the opposite side, "Clothing and footwear" (-3.1%) and “Accessories, Household Equipment and Current Household Maintenance” (-1.6%) were the only classes in which the rate of change was negative.

In Portugal, the value of that rate was 1.3%, 0.1 p.p. lower than in the previous month.

In January 2018, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region increased by 0.2% over the previous month.
