Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 2.2%

In January 2019, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was 2.2%, decreasing by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month.

The upward pressure on the annual average rate of change occurred in the classes of  “Transport" (+5.9%) and " Restaurants and hotels" (+5.0%).  On the opposite side, the classes of "Clothing and footwear" and “Accessories, Household Equipment and Current Household Maintenance” recorded the largest negative changes (-1.1% in both cases).

In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.9%, down by 0.1 p.p. from the previous month.

In January 2019, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region increased by 0.4% over the previous month.
