12-month average rate of change in the Consumer Price Index stood at 3.6%
In June 2025, the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) recorded an average rate ao change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the last 12 months of 3.6%, the same value as observed in the previous month.
The underlying inflation indicator - the indicator that excludes unprocessed food and energy products - stood at 3.8%, 0.1 percentage points (pp) lower than in May.
The prices of goods rose by 2.3%, while services recorded a more significant increase of 5.3%.
The largest positive changes were observed in the expenditure classes of “Restaurants and hotels” (10.4%), “Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels” (5.0%), and “Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco” (4.0%). In contrast, the “Clothing and Footwear” category showed the smallest change, with a slight increase of 0.1%.
At the national level, the average CPI change stood at 2.3%, 0.1 pp lower than in May 2025.
In year-on-year terms - that is, comparing June 2025 with the same month in 2024 - the price change in the ARM was 3.0%, 0.2 pp lower than the previous month. Nationally, the year-on-year CPI change was 2.4%, 0.1 pp higher than in May 2025.
On a monthly basis, in June 2025, the CPI recorded a decrease of 0.1%, the same decline as observed in the previous month. In the country as a whole, the monthly change stood at 0.1%, representing a decrease of 0.2 pp compared to the 0.3% recorded in the previous month.
In June 2025, the average housing rent per square metre of floor area in the Region increased by 0.3% compared to the previous month and by 7.1% compared to the same month of the previous year (0.4% and 7.4%, respectively, in the previous month).
