Total and lodging revenue in Madeira's hotel industry increased slightly year-on-year, despite the 2.2% drop in the number of overnight stays
Initial estimates of tourism accommodation for June 2018 show a decrease in the number of overnight stays (-2.2%). Inversely, total and lodging revenue increased by 0.4% and 1.2%, respectively.
In the month of reference, the number of overnight stays in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at 778.4 thousand. Total revenue and revenue from accommodation amounted to 39.9 and 25.3 million euros, respectively.

That rate of change is partly explained by the reclassification of a hotel establishment in rural tourism.
