Trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries was negative
According to preliminary data, the Region’s trade balance of goods with foreign countries stood at -0.7 million Euros in the 1st quarter of 2017, representing a coverage rate of imports by exports of 97.6%. In the same period of last year, the balance between exports and imports was negative (-13.4 million Euros) and the coverage rate reached 58.7%.
In the first three months of 2017, exports totaled 29.9 million Euros, 84.3% of which destined for Third Countries (i.e. outside the EU), while imports reached 30.6 million Euros, 81.5% of which coming from the EU.
