Estimated unemployment rate was 12.5%
The Labour Force Survey results for the first quarter of 2017 indicate that the Unemployment Rate for Madeira was estimated at 12.5%. This value decreased by 1.8 percentage points (p.p.) when compared with the same quarter of 2016 and increased by 1.5 p.p. from the previous quarter.
The unemployment rate for Portugal reached 10.1% (0.4 p.p. lower than the previous quarter).
The estimate of the unemployed population in Madeira stood at 16.4 thousand persons, having recorded a quarterly increase of 16.6% (+2.3 thousand unemployed persons).
The employed population was estimated at 114.9 thousand persons, representing a quarterly increase of 0.7% (+0,7 thousand persons employed).
