In the first six months of 2020

Main fuels released for consumption decreased by 22.1% year-on-year

In the first six months of 2020, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 56.7 million litres, decreasing by 22.1% compared to the same period of 2019. 41.5 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil were released for consumption in the reference period, down by 20.5% over the same half of the previous year. In the case of gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline decreased by 29.2% while the demand for unleaded 98 dropped by 15.8%. The sales of these fuels were 11.2 and 3.9 million litres, respectively.

Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 5.1 and 3.4 thousand tonnes, respectively. 11.6 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 0.4% year-on-year.

Taking in consideration the second quarter of 2020, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 23.4 million litres, decreasing by 37.7% compared to the same period of 2019. 17.5 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil were released for consumption between April and June 2020, dropping by 35.3% over the year-ago period. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline went down by 48.5%, while the demand for unleaded 98 decreased by 27.7%. The sales of these fuels were 4.2 and 1.7 million litres, respectively.

Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 1.2 and 1.6 thousand tonnes, respectively. 5.0 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the second quarter of 2020.

Average price of diesel in the second quarter of 2020 was €1.106

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.106, a lower price than the one registered in the corresponding quarter of 2019 (€1.292). If compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows a decrease of 15.9 cents.

The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.301, decreasing by 21.5 cents compared to the 2nd quarter of 2019. That price fell by 17.1 cents from the previous quarter.
