In the first nine months of 2020

Main fuels released for consumption decreased by 19.0% year-on-year

In the first nine months of 2020, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 91.0 million litres, decreasing by 19.0% compared to the same period of 2019. 65.9 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil – were released for consumption in the reference period, down by 18.0% over the same period of the previous year. In the case of gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline decreased by 25.5% while the demand for unleaded 98 dropped by 8.8%. The sales of these fuels were 18.4 and 6.6 million litres, respectively.

Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 7.2 and 4.2 thousand tonnes, respectively. 18.0 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 5.3% year-on-year.

Taking in consideration the third quarter of 2020, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 34.3 million litres, decreasing by 13.4% compared to the same period of 2019. 24.4 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil – were released for consumption between July and September 2020, dropping by 13.2% over the year-ago period. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline went down by 19.0%, while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 3.4%. The sales of these fuels were 7.2 and 2.7 million litres, respectively.

Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 2.1 and 0.8 thousand tonnes, respectively. 6.4 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the third quarter of 2020, up by 15.6% over the year-ago quarter.

Average price of diesel in the third quarter of 2020 was €1.127

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.127, a lower price than the one registered in the corresponding quarter of 2019 (€1.248). If compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows a increase of 2.1 cents.

The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.360, decreasing by 13.0 cents compared to the 3rd quarter of 2019. That price went up by 5.9 cents from the previous quarter of 2020.
