Non-financial companies in the Autonomous Region of Madeira reached historical highs in terms of turnover, staff employed, and number of establishments

The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) has released the final data on non-financial company establishments in the Autonomous Region of Madeira for the year 2021 on its official statistics website.

This information is of significant importance, particularly with the increasing prominence of major brands, especially in the trade sector, as indicated by the annual information from the Larged Sized Commercial Units (LSCU) project.

It is worth noting that a company, regardless of its headquarters location in the country, may have multiple establishments in different areas of the territory. This means that there are establishments in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) that belong to companies headquartered outside the ARM, and there are also ARM companies with establishments on the mainland and/or in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
