The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today on its official statistics website data on public employment in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. These data come from the Directorate-General for Administration and Public Employment, more precisely from SIEP (Synthesis of Public Employment Statistics) and BOEP (Bulletin of Public Employment Statistics).

Public Employment in the Regional Administration of Madeira increased
The provisional data show that at 30/09/2018 there were 19,119 persons working in the Regional Administration of Madeira. Compared with the year-ago quarter this represents an increase of 88 persons (+0.5%). The comparative analysis with the previous quarter shows an increase of 19 persons (+0.1%).
At 31/12/2011 the number of persons working in the Regional Administration of Madeira stood at 21,354. This figure declined steadily until the 3rd quarter of 2017 (in which the minimum of the available series occurred), and since then has remained around 19,100.
In the country’s Public Administration, the number of workers increased by 1.6% from the year-ago quarter. Local Administration had the most significant growth (4.3%), followed by Social Security (1.4%), Central Administration and the Regional Administration of Azores (1.0%, in both cases).

In July 2018, the monthly basic salary in the Public Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira was EUR 1 404.4, rising by 0.6% year-on-year, while the average monthly earnings stood at EUR 1 628.1, 1.9% above July 2017.
