In the 1st quarter 2021
Number of persons working in the Regional Government of Madeira stood at 20,024
According to the data released by the Directorate-General for Administration and Public Employment (DGAEP) on the latest issue of SIEP (Synthesis of Public Employment Statistics) - released yesterday, 17th May 2021 - there were 20,024 persons working in the Regional Government of Madeira (RGM) at 31/03/2021. Compared to the previous quarter, the change was +101 (+0.5%) and the year-on-year increase was 459 (+2.3%). Vis-à-vis the end of 2011 there was a drop of 1,330 persons (-6.2%).
The Social Security Funds were the only subsector to show a year-on-year decrease (-0.1%). The Central Administration had the highest year-on-year increase (+3.3%). Compared to the previous quarter, the Local Administration was the sub-sector with the higher growth (+1.9%). The number of workers in the general government increased by 1.0% from the previous quarter and by 3.0% year-on-year.
In the RGM, the year-on-year growth in the workers is explained by the hiring of operational assistants/workers, specialist Assistants/administrative, senior officers, medical doctors and nursing professionals.

In January 2021, the monthly basic salary in the Public Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira was EUR 1 532.9, up by 1.1% year-on-year, while the average monthly earnings stood at EUR 1 798.0, a 2.8% growth compared to January 2020.
