Implicit interest rate in housing credit in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased while the loan repayments remained unchanged
According to the data made available by Statistics Portugal (INE), in May 2019, the implicit interest rate in housing credit in the Region was 1.032%, increasing by 0.005 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous month. In May 2018, the rate was 0.973%.
The average value of loan repayments remained at €272 in the month of reference, with the interest component standing at €50 and the capital amortisation at €222 (same values as in the previous month). In May 2018, the average value of loan repayments was 268 euros.
The average outstanding loan value in housing credit in the Autonomous Region of Madeira went down to €58,059 (€58,127 in the previous month). One year before it stood at €58,603.
In Portugal, the implicit interest rate in housing credit increased by 0.007 p.p. to 1.080% and the average value of loan repayments was 246€ (up by 1€ from the previous month). The average outstanding loan value for Portugal increased from €52,686 in April 2019 to €52,780 in May 2019.
