In February 2025
Confidence indicators increased in Trade and Services sectors, while declining in Manufacturing Industry and Construction and Public Works
According to data collected by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) through the Qualitative Business Surveys (IQC), in February 2025, confidence indicators in the sectors of Trade and Services increased compared to the previous month, whereas in Manufacturing Industry and Construction & Public Works, there was a decline.
The confidence indicator for the Manufacturing Industry decreased in February, following an increase in January. This evolution was driven by the negative contribution of opinions on the evolution of overall demand and assessments regarding stocks of finished products, although production prospects contributed positively. The balance of expectations regarding selling prices increased in February after declining in the previous two months.
In the Construction and Public Works, the indicator decreased in February after increasing in January. The decline last month reflected the negative contribution of assessments on the order book and employment prospects. The balance of expected price developments for the next three months decreased in February after rising for three consecutive months.
In the Trade sector, the confidence indicator increased in January and February, following a decline in December. The February increase resulted from the positive contribution of assessments of business activity prospects and stock volume, while sales volume contributed negatively. The balance of expectations regarding future price trends decreased in February after rising from November to January.
In the Services sector, the indicator increased in February, reversing the downward trend observed over the previous seven months. This evolution was due to the positive contribution of opinions on past order book developments and demand expectations, while assessments of business activity prospects contributed negatively. The balance of expectations regarding service prices decreased in February after increasing from November to January.
