Confidence indicators in Manufacturing, Trade and Services decreased, whilst in Construction and Public Works there was an increase
According to information collected by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) through the Qualitative Business Surveys (IQC), in December 2025, the confidence indicators in the Manufacturing, Trade and Services activity sectors decreased compared to the previous month, whilst in Construction and Public Works there was an increase.
The confidence indicator for Manufacturing decreased in December, after having increased in November. The change in the indicator was due to the negative contribution of opinions on the evolution of overall demand and production expectations, whilst assessments relating to product stocks contributed positively. The balance of expectations regarding selling prices increased in December, after having decreased in November.
In Construction and Public Works, the confidence indicator increased in December, after having stabilised in November. The change in the last month reflected the positive contribution of assessments of the order book, whilst employment expectations contributed negatively. The balance of expectations regarding prices charged by the enterprise over the next three months increased in December, after having decreased in November.
In Trade, the confidence indicator decreased in December, after having increased in November. The change in the indicator in December resulted from the negative contribution of sales volume and assessments of the enterprise's activity expectations, whilst stock volume contributed positively. The balance of future price change expectations increased in October, November and December, after having decreased in September.
In Services, the indicator decreased for the sixth consecutive month ending in December, after having increased in the five preceding months. The change in the indicator resulted from the negative contribution of opinions on the past evolution of the order book and assessments of enterprise activity, whilst expectations regarding the future evolution of demand contributed positively. The balance relating to service price expectations increased in October, November and December, after having declined in the five preceding months.
