In June 2026
Confidence Indicator in Manufacturing Industry and Services increased, while in Construction and Public Works and in Trade there was a decrease
According to information collected by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) through the Qualitative Business Surveys (IQC), it is observed that, in June 2026, the confidence indicator in the Manufacturing Industry and Services sectors of activity increased compared to the previous month, while in Construction and Public Works and in Trade there was a decrease.
The Manufacturing Industry confidence indicator increased consecutively over the last three months, after decreasing in March. The evolution of the indicator was due to the positive contribution of production expectations and assessments regarding product stocks, with opinions on the evolution of overall demand contributing negatively. The balance of expectations regarding selling prices decreased in June, after having increased in May.
The Construction and Public Works confidence indicator decreased between April and June, after having increased in March. The evolution over the last month reflected the positive contribution of the order book, with employment expectations contributing negatively. The balance of expectations regarding prices to be charged by the enterprise over the next three months decreased in May and June, after having increased in March and April.
The Trade confidence indicator decreased slightly in June, after having increased in May. The evolution of the indicator in June resulted from the positive contribution of all components: assessments of the enterprise's business activity expectations, sales volume, and stock volume. The balances of expectations regarding future price developments decreased in May and June, after having increased in the two previous months.
In Services, the indicator increased over the last six months, after having decreased consecutively throughout the second half of 2025. The evolution of the indicator resulted from the positive contribution of opinions on the past evolution of the order book and assessments of the enterprise's business activity, with expectations regarding the future evolution of demand contributing negatively. The balance of expectations regarding the future evolution of demand decreased in June, after having increased over the previous six months.
