DREM releases the Activity Report for the year 2022
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) has released today its Activity Report for the year 2022, which is available in the section of Organisation - Planning and Management. This report received a favourable opinion from the Higher Council of Statistics during the plenary meeting held on July 12th.
This document has been meticulously prepared following the stipulations outlined in Regional Legislative Decree No. 27/2009/M of August 24th, including amendments introduced by Regional Legislative Decree No. 12/2015/M of December 21st), within the scope of the Self-Evaluation of the SIADAP-RAM1 structure, according to the guidelines of the 8th Deliberation of the Higher Council of Statistics (CSE) and the General Guidelines for Official Statistical Activity (LGAEO) 2018-2022, which encompass the strategic objectives of the National Statistical System.
The current report provides a comprehensive description of the various activities carried out by DREM throughout 2022.These activities are aligned with the 2022 Activity Plan, established strategic objectives, and the institution's Mission and Vision. DREM acts as the statistical authority for regional official statistics and collaborates in the production of national scope statistics under the technical and scientific oversight of Statistics Portugal (INE).
Key highlights from the 2022 report are succinctly emphasized as follows:
In terms of statistical production, the year 2022 is notable for achieving a record response rate of 85.6% in household surveys, compared to 78.3% in 2021. Self-administered surveys aimed at both public and private entities achieved a response rate of around 92.3%.
Across different response modes in household surveys, a total of 15.7 thousand interviews were conducted, reflecting a substantial increase of 40.2% compared to 2021. This includes 10.9 thousand telephone responses (CATI), 3.8 thousand face-to-face interviews (CAPI), and 1.0 thousand online responses (CAWI). Furthermore, in the domain of self-administered surveys, 46.4 thousand questionnaires were received;
Regarding statistical dissemination, there was also growth in the number of dissemination events, equivalent to newsletters sent to registered users, reaching a historical peak of 248, representing a 6.9% increase from 2021, averaging approximately 1 newsletter per each business day of the year;
97.2% of planned disseminations were successfully executed (96.2% within the expected timeframe);
In the media, 822 news items explicitly referred to DREM, representing a decrease of 7.7% compared to 2021. The topics of Tourism, Construction, and Transport emerged as the most frequently cited areas;
The internet website was accessed by 38.9 thousand single users, resulting in 82.0 thousand sessions and 426.7 thousand pageviews. These represent changes of +17.5%, +8.8%, and +1.5%, respectively, from 2021;
Nine study visits were conducted in collaboration with various institutions, involving 309 students and 9 teachers;
DREM had the contribution of 50 employees associated with this Regional Directorate (a reduction of 1 compared to 2021) and an executed budget of 1.5 million euros (+8.8% compared to 2021).
