DREM releases Business Plan, Assessment and Accountability Framework, and Dissemination Calendar for 2025
In the plenary meeting of the Statistical Council (SC) held on December 13, favourable opinions were issued for the 2025 Business Plan of the SC and statistical authorities, including that of the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM).
As in previous years, in 2025, the Business Plan of DREM will focus on statistical production and dissemination activities. This includes both its delegation of Statistics Portugal (INE), coordinating and conducting national statistical operations in the Region, and its role as a regional statistical authority, enhancing its coordination of official statistics production in the Region. It will also focus on activities such as publishing, expanding time data series, conducting studies, and other types of releases to meet the increasing demand for official statistical information about the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM).
The goals and activities for 2025 reflect DREM's commitment and determination to respond efficiently and impartially to the high demands and requests imposed by the current context on society, from policymakers to the general population, who increasingly seek quality, relevant, and up-to-date statistical information on the current economic and social situation.
In 2025, DREM will be involved in 256 activities (four more than in 2024), 104 as a delegation of INE and 152 as a statistical authority.
In addition to the planned ongoing activities, other releases may occur as a result of occasional work.
Alongside the Business Plan, DREM also releases its Assessment and Accountability Framework for 2025, outlining the strategic and operational goals to be achieved during the year.
Simultaneously, the dissemination calendar is made available, listing all planned releases for 2025 and the expected dates for each occurrence.
In 2025, highlights include the introduction of the Survey on Car Rental Enterprises, the re-editions of the Satellite Accounts for Tourism and the Ocean, and the launch of the new DREM website.
DREM's dissemination strategy continues to rely on its website as the primary means for providing official statistical information free of charge, through various products, including "Em Foco," which offers statistical analysis of released results; “Press release” (a summary of key data releases, sent to registered users by email); “Tables,” “Publications,” “Brochures,” and “Time Series.” In 2022, the "RAMstats" mobile app was also launched, allowing immediate access to the most important indicators.
Recognizing the process of globalisation, with English as the dominant language, DREM also releases information in English. Therefore, the "Press release," "Tables," and "Time Series" will be available simultaneously in English, not only to introduce the ARM to international users from a statistical perspective but also to serve as a tool in interactions between local entities and those from other countries.
Data dissemination is a crucial stage of statistical activity, ultimately giving visibility to the complete fulfilment of DREM's mission, which is to produce and disseminate high-quality official statistical information that independently and effectively meets the informational needs of a society that is ever-changing and increasingly demanding in terms of relevance, quality, and timeliness.
