DREM releases the Activity Report for the year 2025
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) is releasing today, in the Organisation - Planning and Management section, its 2025 Activity Report, a document that received a favourable opinion from the Higher Council for Statistics at the plenary meeting held on 10 July.
The preparation of this report complies with the provisions of Regional Legislative Decree No. 27/2009/M, of 24 August (as amended by Regional Legislative Decree No. 12/2015/M, of 21 December), and forms part of the Self-Assessment of the SIADAP-RAM 1 structure. The document also follows the guidelines of the 8th Resolution of the Higher Council for Statistics (CSE) and the General Guidelines for Official Statistical Activity (LGAEO) 2023-2027, which reflect the strategic objectives set for the National Statistical System.
Throughout its pages, the report provides a broad picture of DREM's activity in 2025, in conjunction with its Activity Plan, the strategic objectives set, and the institution's Mission and Vision. It should be recalled that DREM acts as the statistical authority with regard to official statistics of regional scope, also participating, under the technical-scientific supervision of Statistics Portugal (INE), in the production of statistics of national scope.
Among the information gathered in the document relating to 2025, the following indicators stand out:
DREM was involved in 102 statistical operations, of which 82 were of national scope and 20 of exclusively regional scope. Among the latter, particular mention should be made of the Quarterly Survey on Car Rental Enterprises in the ARM, whose data were released for the first time on 20 October 2025, and the Survey on Mental Health Literacy in the ARM, whose release is scheduled for the second half of 2026;
In statistical production, the gross response rate obtained in household surveys stood at 82.8% (86.3% in 2024), while self-completion surveys, aimed at public and private entities, reached a rate of 93.1% (92.4% in 2024);
Considering the various collection methods used in household surveys, a total of 16 685 interviews were carried out (+8.7% compared with 2024): 10 130 by telephone (CATI), 5 581 in person (CAPI) and 974 via the internet (CAWI). In self-completion surveys, in turn, 80 530 questionnaires were received (+13.5% compared with 2024);
With regard to statistical dissemination, 296 unique newsletters were sent to users registered on the website, 13 fewer than in 2024 (-4.2%), which is mainly explained by the change in the dissemination of Tourism Statistics, which previously had two releases per month and, in 2025, moved to one per month plus one quarterly release. Nevertheless, the total number of emails sent amounted to 132.8 thousand (+0.4% compared with 2024).
DREM's website (estatistica.madeira.gov.pt) was visited by 39.3 thousand unique users, who carried out 62.0 thousand sessions, with 141.6 thousand pages viewed.
Of the releases planned for the year, 97.7% were completed, with 99.0% of these occurring within the established deadline;
In the national and regional press, DREM was mentioned in 1 207 news items, a new historic high, representing an increase of 9.3% compared with 2024, with Transport, Construction, Population and Tourism among the areas with the highest number of references;
As part of the promotion of statistical literacy, six study visits were organised, bringing together 181 students and 9 teachers;
DREM had 58 employees, 75.4% of whom held higher education qualifications (71.4% in 2024), and the institution executed a budget of close to 2.1 million euros.
