In the 1st quarter 2017

Egg production rose slightly, while the poultry meat and the livestock slaughtering registered a year-on-year decrease. Landed catch dropped in volume and increased in value

In the first three months of 2017 the egg production stood at 6.4 million units, increasing by 0.8% year-on-year.

In the same period, the poultry meat totaled 773.4 tonnes, decreasing by 11.5% compared to the same period of 2016.

Between January and March 2017, the weight of the slaughtered livestock dropped by 10.5% year-on-year.

Compared to the same period of last year, the data on landed catch show a 5.3% decrease in volume in the first three months of 2017 and a 6.9% increase in first sale receipts.

This result was mainly driven by the increase in the catch of black scabbardfish (+28.8% in volume and +14.6% in first sale receipts). The catch of tuna and tuna-like species decreased by 33.4% year-on year while the first sale receipts generated by this species dropped by 20.1%.
