In the 2nd quarter 2015

Landed catch, livestock slaughterings and egg production registered year-on-year decreases while poultry meat production increased

In the first six months of 2015 the egg production stood at 11.7 million units, decreasing by 11.4% year-on-year.

In the same period, poultry meat totaled 1 926.7 tonnes, increasing by 9.5% compared to the same period of 2014.

Between January and June 2015, the weight of the slaughtered livestock dropped 10.1% year-on-year.

Data provided by the Regional Directorate for Fisheries shows that the landed catch decreased in the first six months of 2015 (-27.3% in volume and -12.0% in first sale receipts), when compared to the same period of last year.

This result was mainly driven by the decrease in the catch of tuna and tuna-like species (-40.8% in volume and -27.0% in first sale receipts). During the same period (i.e. the first semester of 2015) the catch of black scabbard fish was smaller in volume (-1.7%) although having generated higher receipts (+11.5%) than in the corresponding period of 2014.
