Region records a positive foreign trade balance for the ninth consecutive year
According to the final 2025 data for International Trade in Goods, the trade balance of goods transactions recorded a surplus of around 157.3 million euros, above the figure recorded in the previous year, when the positive foreign trade balance had stood at 66.3 million euros.
Analysis by type of flow shows that, in 2025, exports overall stood at 499.9 million euros, +132.2 million euros compared with the previous year.
The increase in exports was essentially driven by growth in exports to Intra-EU countries, which stood at around 229.6 million euros in 2025, above the 162.4 million euros recorded in 2024. Trade in goods with Extra-EU countries rose from 205.4 million euros in 2024 to 270.3 million euros in 2025.
Imports reached 342.6 million euros, an increase of 13.7% (+41.2 million euros) compared with 2024.
The significant increase in goods imports was driven by transactions with intra-Community countries, which stood at 284.0 million euros in 2025, +34.3 million euros above the figure recorded in the previous year. Purchases from extra-Community countries rose from 51.8 million euros in 2024 to 58.6 million euros in 2025.
With the release of the final data for 2025, the export and import flows and the resulting goods trade balance were revised, with values revised by +3.4 million euros, +27.2 million euros and -23.8 million euros, respectively, compared with the provisional figures released in May 2026.
