In the first quarter 2021
Number and sales value of transacted dwellings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased year-on-year, but decreased compared to the previous quarter
In the first quarter 2021, 909 dwellings were traded in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, down by 1.8% over the previous quarter and up by 6.6% compared to the 1st quarter 2020.
From that total, 699 were existing dwellings and the remaining 210, new dwellings. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of traded existing dwellings went down by 5.0% (+10.3% y-o-y) while in the case of new dwellings there was a 10.5% increase (-4.1% y-o-y).
The value of transacted dwellings in the reference quarter was approximately 141.5 million euros, representing a 4.5% increase over the previous quarter and a 5.9% rise compared to the same quarter of the prior year. The sales value for the new dwellings stood at 39.4 million euros and for the existing dwellings at 102.2 million euros.
In Portugal, the number of transacted dwellings in the first quarter 2021 reached 43.8 thousand (a 12.0% decrease compared to the last quarter), generating a sales value of 6.9 billion euros (-8.1%). The y-o-y growth rates were +0.5% and +2.5%, respectively.
