Implicit interest rate on housing credit and loan repayments increased in the Autonomous Region of Madeira
In January 2022, the implicit interest rate on housing credit in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 0.758%, increasing by 0.001 percentage points (pp) from the previous month. In January 2021, the implicit interest rate was 0.767%.
The average value of loan repayments for all housing credit contracts rose to 268 euros in the month of reference, with the interest set at 38 euros (the same value as in the last month) and the capital amortisation at 230 euros (up by 2 euros from the previous month). In January 2021, the average value of loan repayments was just 229 euros.
In turn, the average outstanding loan value for housing credit contracts went up to 59,721 euros (59,503 euros in the previous month). A year earlier it stood at 58,210 euros.
In Portugal, and in all housing credit contracts, the implicit interest rate fell to 0.798%, down by 0.003 pp over the previous month. The average value of loan repayments increased by 254 euros. The average outstanding loan value grew from 58,207 euros, in December 2021, to 58,557 euros, in January 2022.
