Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 1.5%

In January 2022, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was 1.5%, increasing by 0.4 percentage points (pp) when compared to the previous month. It should be noted that this indicator has been on an upward trajectory since February of 2021, turning positive in the month of September.

Goods recorded a rate of 1.9% and services of 0.8%.

The highest positive changes occurred in “Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels” (+1.9%) and "Transports" (+6.6%) classes. Conversely, “Education “registered the largest negative change (-3.2%) followed by " Food and non-alcoholic beverages” (-1.0%).

In Portugal, the value of that rate was 1.5%, 0.2 pp higher than in the previous month (1.3%).

In January 2022, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region had no change when compared to the previous month and +1.9% when compared to the same month last year.
