In July 2025
Confidence indicators in Manufacturing, Construction and Public Works, and Trade increased, while Services recorded a decline
According to information collected by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) through the Qualitative Business Surveys (QBS), in July 2025, the confidence indicators for the Manufacturing, Construction and Public Works, and Trade sectors increased compared with the previous month, while Services recorded a decrease.
The Manufacturing confidence indicator rose in July, following declines in May and June. This increase was driven by the positive contribution of opinions regarding global demand developments and assessments of product stocks, while production expectations contributed negatively. The balance of expectations for selling prices remained stable in July, after having increased in the previous month.
In Construction and Public Works, the confidence indicator increased in both June and July, following a decline in May. The latest increase reflected the positive contribution of assessments of the order book and employment expectations. The balance of expectations regarding prices charged by companies over the next three months increased in July, after decreases in May and June.
In Trade, the confidence indicator increased in July, after a decrease in the preceding month. This rise resulted from the positive contribution of the components relating to sales volume and stock levels, while assessments of business activity prospects contributed negatively. The balance of expectations for future price developments declined in May, June, and July, after increases in the two preceding months.
In Services, the confidence indicator decreased in July, following increases in the previous five months. This decline was due to the negative contribution of expectations for future demand developments, while opinions on past order book developments and assessments of current business activity contributed positively. The balance of expectations for service prices decreased in May, June, and July, after an increase in April.
