DREM releases a new chapter of the "Statistical Atlas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira", about Enterprises

The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today (October 20th - European Statistics Day),  a new chapter of the "Statistical Atlas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira", about Enterprises.

It is worth reminding that the first chapter of this publication was dedicated to Demography, the second to Mortality and the third to Education.

The Statistical Atlas makes use of visually appealing charts and graphics to facilitate users' understanding of the most relevant indicators in each thematic area, which are integrated into the various publications made available by DREM for each statistical domain.

The Atlas is an instrument for the promotion of statistical literacy, allowing users to draw new conclusions about the socio-economic reality of the Region, either through the specificities by municipality and parish, and whenever the information at this level is available, or through the positioning of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) compared to other regions of the country.

This publication includes a wide range of enterprise indicators resulting from the Integrated Business Accounts System of Statistics Portugal (INE), which results from a process of integration of statistical information on enterprises, supported by administrative data, with emphasis on the Simplified Business Information (IES). This information is supplemented, on the one hand, with data on sole proprietorships and independent workers from organisations under the Ministry of Finance and also from the Statistical Units File of Statistics Portugal.

The information on Enterprises presented in this chapter of the Statistical Atlas covers the period from 2010 to 2020, or only this last year, which was atypical due to the COVID-19 pandemic, having an uneven impact on the different activities.
