The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) is now providing, for the first time on its internet website, information on the median earnings of full-time fully paid employees for the year 2021. The referenced information is derived from the Lists of Personnel (Annex A of Single Report).

The Single Report is under the responsibility of the Strategy and Planning Office (GEP) of the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity, and Social Security (MTSSS), with the statistical operation in the Autonomous Region of Madeira being carried out in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Labour and Inspection (DRTAI).

The presented data pertain to employees under an employment contract (TCO) working full time and being fully paid employees, and the geographical breakdown is based on the workplace of the employees, i.e., the information is referenced to the place of work.

In 2021, within the statistical assessment of the Lists of Personnel, 46.3 thousand employees were identified in establishments located in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, representing an increase of 10.7% compared to the previous year. The Region followed, more pronouncedly, the national trend of an increase in the number of workers (1.9%).

The average monthly earnings of employees identified in 2021 amounted to 1,212.39 euros, surpassing the previous year's figure of 1,171.42 euros, corresponding to an annual increase of 3.5%. In the region, the median monthly earnings stood at 922.50 euros, with the ratio between the 3rd and 1st quartiles equal to 1.61. Nationally, the median was 959.34 euros, and the 3rdQ/1stQ ratio was 1.77.
