In the 4th quarter of 2025
Average gross monthly earnings per worker increased by 4.4% year-on-year, with an annual average growing by 5.1% to 1 608 euros
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) publishes today the provisional values for the 4th quarter of 2025 and for 2025 as a whole, referring to the average monthly earnings per worker of entities with fiscal headquarters in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM). It should be noted that these statistics are provided to DREM by Statistics Portugal (INE) and are compiled based on information from the Monthly Earning Declaration transmitted by enterprises to Social Security (DMR/SS), obtained by INE under a protocol concluded with the Social Security Information Technology Institute, I.P., and from the Contributory Register of subscribers to the General Retirement Fund (RC/CGA). Together with this release, the series is also updated with the Regional Guaranteed Minimum Monthly Earning (RMMGR) values for 2026.
In the 4th quarter of 2025, the average total gross monthly earning per worker (per job) increased by 4.4% compared to the same period of 2024, standing at 1 773 euros. Regular earnings and base earnings recorded increases of 4.5% and 4.3%, reaching values of 1 305 and 1 254 euros, respectively.
In real terms, i.e. with reference to the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the Region, it can be observed that, in the reference quarter, the average total earnings and the average regular earnings per worker both increased by 1.0%, whilst base earnings rose by 0.9%.
These results cover 112.4 thousand jobs (+5.0% compared to the 4th quarter of 2024), corresponding to Social Security beneficiaries and General Retirement Fund subscribers of entities with fiscal headquarters in the ARM.
In year-on-year terms, enterprises in "Manufacturing" (section C) stand out with an increase of 9.4%. In particular, Manufacturing enterprises with "Medium industrial technology" recorded an increase of 10.8%, those in the tradeable sector increased by 8.0% and enterprises in the non-tradeable non-market sector grew by 5.8%. Enterprises in "Financial and insurance activities" (section K) also stand out, with a positive year-on-year change of 7.2%. Considering enterprise size, enterprises with 100 to 249 workers (+9.6%) and enterprises with 5 to 9 workers (+8.6%) stood out. With regard to the public and private sectors, increases of 5.9% and 4.5% were recorded in the public and private sectors, respectively.
In the 4th quarter of 2025, the average total gross monthly total earning per worker in the Region was 1 773 euros, 5.5% below the national average, which stood at 1 877 euros. The year-on-year change, in nominal terms, nationally was 5.1% (1 786 euros in December 2024) and, in real terms, 2.8%. As in the Region, at the national level, the activities of "Electricity, gas, steam, hot and cold water and cold air" (section D) presented, in December 2025, the highest total gross earnings (4 145 euros in the ARM and 3 859 euros nationally). At the regional level, enterprises with 100 to 249 workers presented the highest total gross earnings, at 2 145 euros, whilst nationally it was enterprises with 500 or more workers, at 2 250 euros.
With regard to 2025, provisional values show that the average total gross monthly earnings per worker increased by 5.1%, to 1 608 euros. Its regular component grew by 4.5%, to 1 308 euros, whilst base earning rose by 4.3%, to 1 258 euros. The changes in real terms were +1.6%, +1.0% and +0.8%, respectively. The average total gross monthly earning per worker in 2025 at the national level was 1 694 euros, recording, compared to 2024, an increase of 5.6% in nominal terms and 3.2% in real terms.

Regional guaranteed minimum monthly earnings in 2026 with a nominal increase of 7.10% compared to 2025
DREM updates today the time series on the evolution of the regional guaranteed minimum monthly earnings (RMMGR), with the 2026 data. The nominal and real changes (i.e. discounting the inflation rate) are updated, as well as the increases in regional values compared to national ones.
In 2026, the regional guaranteed minimum monthly earning stood at 980.00 euros, representing an increase of 7.10% compared to the previous year (plus 65.00 euros). Compared to the national guaranteed minimum monthly earning (920.00 euros in 2026), the regional figure presents a positive differential of 6.52% this year.
In real terms, the regional guaranteed minimum monthly earnings recorded an increase of 4.21% in 2025.
