Census 2021 Quality Survey - Results show the success of the Census 2021 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira
As part of the quality control and evaluation programme of the Census 2021, the Census 2021 Quality Survey (CQS) was conducted between September and November 2021, with face-to-face interviews, corresponding to the fifth edition (which began with the Census 1981). This survey was carried out independently from the structure of the main statistical operation of Census 2021. The information provided is part of the last section of the national publication, made available by Statistics Portugal last 23rd November.
In terms of coverage analysis, the Census 2021 Quality Survey shows that in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, similarly to the country, there was an over-coverage in buildings and in dwellings, with the net coverage rate standing at 103.5% and 103.3%, respectively. In households, the Autonomous Region of Madeira was closest to the optimal value of 100%, registering a net coverage rate of 99.0%, the highest in the country, while the national average was 94.3%. For persons with residence in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the net coverage rate was the highest among the seven regions of the country and was estimated at 99.6%, a value above the national rate (96.8%) and very close to 100%.
In the content analysis, for the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the net consistency index for gender and age group had the value of 99.1% showing that the content errors for these two variables are not significant.
