Statistics Portugal releases the 2015 edition of the study on the municipal purchasing power
Statistics Portugal released today the 2015 edition of the study on the municipal purchasing power.
In 2015, Funchal revealed a per capita purchasing power (pCPP) above national average, ranking 13th in the list of the Portuguese municipalities with the highest pCPP. Porto Santo (93.6) stood above the regional average (86.9). The pCPP for the Autonomous Region of Madeira reached 86.9, below all NUTS2 regions of Mainland Portugal but above the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
Funchal concentrated more than 1% of the total national purchasing power and 54.6% of the regional aggregate.
This study also allows to trace the importance of the tourism activity using the Coefficient of Relative Dynamism (CRD). Except for Machico and Câmara de Lobos, all municipalities of the Region have a coefficient higher than the national average (-0.009). Porto Moniz (0.986), Porto Santo (0.856), and Funchal (0.435) are the municipalities with the highest CRD and the ones that contribute most to the regional average.
