Statistics Portugal releases the 2013 edition of the study on the municipal purchasing power
Statistics Portugal released today the 2013 edition of the study on the municipal purchasing power.
In 2013, Funchal revealed a per capita purchasing power (pCPP) above national average, ranking 12th in the list of the Portuguese municipalities with the highest pCPP. Porto Santo (98.8) stood above the regional average (86.01). The pCPP for the Autonomous Region of Madeira reached 86.0, below all NUTS2 regions of Mainland Portugal but above the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
Funchal concentrated more than 1% of the total national purchasing power and 53.8% of the regional aggregate.
This study also allows to trace the importance of the tourism activity using the Coefficient of Relative Dynamism (CRD). Except for Câmara de Lobos, all municipalities of the Region have a coefficient higher than the national average (-0.058). Porto Santo (0.947), Porto Moniz (0.811) and Funchal (0.686) are the municipalities with the highest CRD and the only ones above regional average.
