Building permits and completed buildings continued to decrease in Madeira
In 2013, the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) housing stock was estimated at 92,810 classic residential buildings and 130,798 dwellings, representing annual increase rates of 0.3% and 0.4% over the previous year, respectively.
The number of works completed in Madeira dropped by 6.3%, corresponding to 524 buildings. The number of dwellings completed also decreased from 654 to 603 (-7.8%) between 2012 and 2013, respectively.
In comparison to 2012 the number of building permits decreased by 19.2% (265 building permits in 2013) and the dwelling permits followed the same trend dropping by 27.6%.
Less purchase and sale contracts of real estate and more mortgage credit was granted
The number of contracts of real estate purchase and sale decreased by 7.2% vis-a-vis the previous year. However, the average value of the traded real estates increased from 71 thousand euros in 2012 to 84 thousand euros in 2013.
