In the first nine months of 2024
Weighted average daily traffic on Via Rápida increased by 4.9% when compared to the previous year
According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), from January to September 2024, the road traffic count increased by 5.2% on Via Rápida and 8.6% on Vias Expresso, year-on-year. On the roads under concession, light vehicle traffic increased on both (+5.3% on the Via Rápida; +8.8% on the Vias Expresso), while in heavy vehicle traffic, the change was negative on the Via Rápida (-0.8%) and the Vias Expresso (-0.5%).
Narrowing the scope of analysis to the 3rd quarter of 2024, the year-on-year changes in road traffic counts were +5.2% on the Via Rápida and +7.7% on the Vias Expresso.
In the first nine months of 2024, the weighted average daily traffic was nearly 37.7 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and 7.5 thousand vehicles on the Vias Expresso, representing increases of 4.9% and 8.8%. As the counts, it was the growth in light vehicle traffic (+5.1% on the Via Rápida; +8.9% on the Vias Expresso) that determined the overall change, as the small proportion of heavy vehicle traffic (respectively, 2.2% and 1.9% of the total) had little impact on the overall indicator (-0.6% on the Via Rápida; +2.1% on the Vias Expresso).
It should be noted that in the 3rd quarter of 2024, the weighted average daily traffic increased by 5.5% on the Via Rápida and 8.0% on the Vias Expresso.

Note: the weighted average daily traffic corresponds to the number of vehicles, which, on average, travel every day along the length of each road.
