In 2024
Weighted annual average daily traffic on the Via Rápida increased by 5.3% when compared to the previous year
According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), in 2024, the road traffic counts increased by 5.4% on the Via Rápida and 8.4% on the Vias Expresso, year-on-year.
On the concessioned roads, light vehicle traffic increased in both the Via Rápida (+5.5%) and the Vias Expresso (+8.5%). Heavy vehicle traffic also rose, although with less significant changes (+1.6% on the Via Rápida; +1.3% on the Vias Expresso).
Focusing on the 4th quarter of 2024, year-on-year changes in road traffic counts showed increases of +6.0% on the Via Rápida and +7.8% on the Vias Expresso.
In 2024, the daily average traffic was nearly 37.7 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and over 7.3 thousand vehicles on the Vias Expresso, reflecting growth rates of 5.3% and 8.7%, respectively. Similar to the traffic counts, the overall increase was primarily driven by the rise in light vehicle traffic (+5.4% on the Via Rápida; +8.8% on the Vias Expresso) given the limited contribution of heavy vehicle traffic, which accounted for just 2.2% and 2.0% of the total, respectively (+1.7% on the Via Rápida; +3.3% on the Vias Expresso).
It should be noted that in the 4th quarter of 2024, the weighted average daily traffic increased by 6.4% on the Via Rápida and 8.4% on the Vias Expresso.

Note: The weighted annual average daily traffic corresponds to the number of vehicles, that, on average, travel the full length of each road daily.
