Passenger movement at the airports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered a growth of 6.7% year-on-year

According to information provided by ANA - Airports of Portugal to the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM), in March 2025, the airports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) recorded a movement of 442.5 thousand passengers, transported on 2 975 commercial flights, representing year-on-year changes of +6.7% and +7.1%, respectively.

In the month of reference, Madeira Airport recorded an increase, both in the movement of aircraft (2 808; +8.5% compared to March 2024), and in the number of passengers (431.8 thousand; +7.7%). In contrast, at Porto Santo Airport, despite the reduction of aircraft movement (167; -12.1% compared to the same period of 2024), the number of passengers increased (10.7 thousand; -22.0%).

It is worth noting that the results for this month may have been slightly influenced by the calendar effect, as Easter was celebrated in March 2024, but occurred later in April 2025.

Over the first three months of 2025, changes in aircraft and passenger movements were +8.8% and +6.7%, respectively.

In the first quarter of 2025, each aircraft (considering both landings and take-offs) transported, on average, approximately 154 passengers (155 in March 2024) at Madeira Airport, while at Porto Santo Airport, this figure approached 64 passengers (72 in the same period of 2024).
