In the 1st half of 2022, aquaculture production grew more than 50% year-on-year
According to the information gathered by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) from the aquaculture production enterprises operating in the Region, in the 1st half of 2022, 1,022.9 tonnes of sea bream were produced, up by 51.2% year-on-year. In turn, sales topped 5.1 million euros, rising by 53.2%. In both cases, these increases should be highlighted, taking into account that 2021 was a year of records in both indicators.
By markets, the national market (Mainland Portugal and the Azores) accounted for 89.2% of the sales value, and the regional market only for 10.5%.
